Stress, Burnout & Overwhelm Therapy in Fort Collins & Northern Colorado

Therapy for stress, burnout, perfectionism, and overwhelm in Fort Collins and Northern Colorado. Learn to reconnect with yourself and find relief.

When it feels like you're carrying everything

You may look like you're holding it together on the outside.

You show up. You meet deadlines. You care deeply. You keep going.

But inside, you're exhausted.

Maybe your mind never stops. You're constantly anticipating what's next, trying to keep everyone happy, or feeling responsible for things that aren't yours to carry. Rest feels uncomfortable—or impossible. Even when you slow down, your nervous system doesn't.

If this sounds familiar, you're not alone.

Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable, and deeply caring. They've learned to survive by doing more, trying harder, and staying one step ahead. Eventually, that way of living becomes overwhelming.

Not because they're weak.

Because no one can carry that much forever.

You might be experiencing...

  • Constant stress or overwhelm

  • Burnout from work, caregiving, or simply trying to hold everything together

  • Overthinking and feeling mentally “on” all the time

  • Feeling responsible for everyone else's emotions

  • Difficulty resting without guilt

  • Perfectionism and relentless self-criticism

  • Trouble knowing what you actually need

  • Feeling disconnected from yourself

  • Physical symptoms of chronic stress

  • Feeling like you've lost yourself while taking care of everyone else

There is nothing wrong with you.

One of the greatest reliefs people experience is discovering that they are not broken.

Your nervous system has adapted to the environments, relationships, expectations, and experiences that shaped you.

The constant doing.
The hypervigilance.
The overthinking.
The pressure to perform.
The feeling that everything depends on you.

These patterns often make perfect sense when we understand where they came from. Stress isn't just something happening inside you. It's often the result of living within systems—family, work, culture, or faith—that have quietly taught you to override your own needs.

Your body isn't the enemy. It's often the first place that begins telling the truth.

You are not defective.

You are responding in very human ways to circumstances that have asked too much of you.

My approach

Therapy isn't another place where you have to perform.

It's a place to arrive, to be, to become.

We'll explore questions like:

  • What keeps you feeling responsible for everything?

  • What happens inside when you try to rest?

  • Which parts of you believe you must always be productive or available?

  • What is your body trying to communicate?

  • What would it look like to care for yourself with the same compassion you offer everyone else?

My work draws from parts work, mindfulness, nervous system awareness, values-based living, and practical skill building.

Together we'll learn to:

  • Understand what's driving your stress

  • Build practical tools for calming overwhelm

  • Listen to your body's signals

  • Develop healthier boundaries

  • Learn when to hold on—and when it's time to let go

  • Replace self-criticism with compassion

  • Live more from your own inner wisdom than from external pressure

Healing doesn't happen by trying harder.

It happens by practicing a different relationship with yourself.

Together we'll become curious about the patterns that keep stress alive—not with judgment, but with compassion.

Imagine...

Imagine waking up without immediately feeling behind.

Imagine resting without guilt.

Imagine making decisions from clarity instead of fear.

Imagine trusting yourself.

Imagine feeling connected to your own life again.

This isn't about becoming a different person.

It's about returning to the person who has been there all along beneath the pressure, striving, and constant responsibility.

FAQs

Yes. Burnout often involves more than work stress. Therapy can help you understand the deeper patterns that contribute to burnout while developing healthier ways of relating to work, relationships, and yourself.

Is therapy helpful for burnout?

1

I don't think I have anxiety. I'm just overwhelmed.

2

Many people I work with wouldn't describe themselves as anxious. They simply feel exhausted, overwhelmed, or like they're carrying too much. Therapy can help you understand what's contributing to those experiences and develop sustainable ways of finding relief.

Do you work with high achievers and caregivers?

3

Yes. Many of my clients are thoughtful, conscientious people who have spent years caring for others or holding significant responsibility. Together we work toward creating a life that includes both meaningful contribution and genuine rest.
